Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup entry list, calendar and testing schedule confirmed.


The rapid approach of the 2009 MotoGP season also brings the arrival of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup’s third installment, with 27 teenagers from all around the world pitting their fledgling skills against one another on equal machinery.
Although the series’ title implies a wealth of debutants, those with prior experience of Rookies action will also get their shot over the course of the eight-race season. Thirteen of the riders from the 2008 edition will return to the cup, alongside ten newly-selected riders, three with prior U.S. Rookies experience and one graduate of the Red Bull MotoGP Academy.
Of the returning riders, most of the attention will be focused on the likes of Sturla Fagerhaug, Daijiro Hiura and Mathew Scholtz, all racewinners in 2008.
The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup riders will test their KTM RC125 bkes in Estoril on March 26th-27th, before a two-day test in Jerez three days later concludes their preseason. From there, all that remains is a month-long wait for the first reace of the year, which takes place at the very same track on May 2nd.
